My friend, Jerry from Florida turned 65 years old. He loves doing Sudoku puzzles. I made him a quilt following a puzzle in the paper. Every color was assigned a number and a quilt was made!

The backing fabric was from Ikea. I love the written numbers, very appropriate for a Sudoku quilt.

Do you qrank? It is a daily trivia game I play through my iphone. I made this qrank quilt for my son-in-law’s 40th birthday.

Another baby quilt, this one for a sweet girl named Mabel.

The fabric is from Sarah Fielke ”from little things”. I love the whimsical designs and colors of this fabric line. I have some leftovers, soon I will be making a quilt for me (hope,hope,hope!).

I know, I keep making baby quilts. Most of my friends are having new grandchildren, so that calls for quilts as gifts! I was looking at Moda Bake Shop blog and I came across this pattern designed by V & Co. I fell in love!

Sorry the pictures seem so dark. It is white fabric with Navy, blue and orange. The soon-to-be mother is doing the nursery in those colors. It will be a boy and I think that will make a great looking room. Here are some more pictures including the back.

Baby, babies

Everyone is having a baby!!! I love to make baby quilts (easy to piece and easy to quilt!). Ashley had another baby boy. I had some Ikea fabric(which I love) and proceded to design and piece a quilt.

It went fast and was fun. I did outline quilting around all the animals. She loved it and I hope Julius loves it too when he is a little older.

I made a quilt as a wedding present for a couple getting married here in Florida. They are both actors and have appeared in commercials and sitcoms. I wanted a movie theme and looked online for fabric. I found some with cameras and things associated with filming.

I always have a problem with novelty fabric, so I decided to use it length-wise and fill in the other with stripes and stars. I think it turned out really cute. I hope they like it as much as I do.

Sorry about the lighting issues. I took these pictures in Minnesota. Now I am back in sunny Florida so future pictures should be better!

Wow, it has been awhile. I am in Minnesota and had my daughter take some pictures of my inspirational quilt. She has a better camera and let’s face it, she is better at it that me!

I finally mailed it to my niece and she loved it. Hopefully, it will inspire her to do her best in college. She will be starting in September. Good Luck Sam!!!

I pieced a quilt for my niece who is graduating from high school. I used Paula Prass “summer soiree” fabrics which I love ,love,love.

Sorry the picture is kind of dark. It was “gasp” cloudy here in south Florida. I did inspirational sayings on it like jewelry has now. She is going to college to be a teacher so a lot of the sayings were related to that.

With the leftovers, I am going to make a quilt for me. Any ideas?

I have finished pinning my elephant quilt. I pinned everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE. I used all my pins and had to run to Jo-ans to buy more!

When I was quilting my panda quilt, I had pleats in one part. I figured I didn’t use enough pins. Hopefully, it will be smooth quilting on the elephant one.

I will quilt it in Minnesota at my daughter’s house. She has been so kind to have me stay for awhile. I am leaving in a few weeks, hopefully it will be cooler there then here. It has been so hot here in Florida.

I need to start dinner, a friend is coming over and we will be watching Dancing with the Stars. Who do you think will win?

elephant

This is what I am working on now. It is going to be like the panda quilt only with elephants (and different colors).

My granddaughter was here for spring break and I showed her the panda quilt and she said “I like elephants!”. So I designed the elephant and appliqued it. There will be 3 elephant blocks with 6 1/2″ squares with pinwheels throughout. It is with gray linen and pinks and lime green.

Of course, that is all subject to change when things are cut out and placed on my design floor (no design wall here just the floor!)..
